Johnny Costello

Johnny Costello is an emerging queer Chicano writer currently based in Dublin, IE. His work explores themes of generational trauma, memory, belonging, and (in)visibility. He places his narrative voice in memories spent around the dining tables with his tias where dark humor and word games transformed storytelling into a subversive communal act. He is a 2022 graduate of Portland’s Independent Publishing Resource Center, a 2023 Periplus Fellow, 2023 Tin House Workshop alum, a 2023 writer-in-residence at Hacienda de Guapamaćataro, a 2024 writer-in-residence at Pocoapoco and an incoming postgraduate student at University College Dublin's Masters in Library and Information Studies program.
